Cassandra J Mazza
Cassie is the Oncology Nurse Practitioner at the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service. Cassie has an array of experience across medical oncology, haematology and bone marrow transplantation nursing having worked as a cancer care nurse for almost 20 years. Passionate about improving patient care and clinical outcomes she has been an active participant in the development of the Lung Foundation Australia reform blueprint for lung cancer, COSA’s smoking cessation in cancer patients and e-cigarette position statements, and Cancer Council patient education booklets. In 2022, Cassie was awarded the Cancer Council QLD Oncology Nurse of the year. As a Nurse Practitioner, Cassie has first-hand experience of non-medical prescribing and its impact in timely patient care and management. Cassie is a current PhD Candidate at the University of Queensland researching Oncology Nurse Practitioner models of care.
